HSBC Main Building
"This steel-and-aluminum structure, designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster, remains impressively modern 25 years after its completion. (It cost HK.2 billion (about US0 million at current exchange rates), which at the time was widely said to be the most ever spent on a building.) The innovative design creates a large public space underneath the first floor and uses reflective panels to light the interior. At night, its side supports are lit as part of the city-wide Symphony of Lights, making it appear like a robot — which is just what some Hong Kong residents call the building."
